We All Scream for Ice Cream
There's one perfect way to end every summer day: ice cream. Its undeniable that now is the best season for the sweet treat, and luckily there are amazing ice cream places all around town here in Largo, MD to satisfy all sweet teeth. We've put together a list of two reliable ice cream places near us here at Truman Park. Of course, there's always those that might be counting their calories and the best alternative to that while still keeping that cool dessert-craving theme is the frozen yogurt. To make sure everyone can relief from the heat, we've included a suggestion for that as well. Look over our list and visit one of these great places today!
Menchies This is my favorite place to retreat to after a trying day at work. The workers are welcoming when i arrive, and the atmosphere is clean and inviting. The manager is responsive to customer preferences, and even kept one of my favorite flavors in stock, even though it wasn't selling well. With customer service declining in many businesses, it's great to see that some business values haven't changed. I also love how Menchie's keeps the area around the toppings clean and inviting looking, because--with so many people picking toppings--it could easily be a mess, but it isn't. It reminds me of an old-fashioned ice cream shop, but with healthier frozen yogurt instead! Alaiyo K.*
Cold Stone Creamery Small location at the Boulevard at the Capitol Center in Largo, MD. Next door to Stonefish Grill. The workers are a bit impersonal but efficient when it comes to completing orders. I ordered the "Cake 'n Shake, which features cake batter ice cream, milk and yellow cake pieces. SO AWESOME! It really does taste just like you'd imagine cake would in milkshake form. Mo A.*
Sweet Frog Premium Frozen Yogurt After a disastrous dinner, my friend and I decided to go to Sweet Frog for frozen yogurt. I'd never been here--in fact, I rarely eat frozen yogurt but I'm glad we stopped in. You can pick either a small, medium or large cup and you can choose whatever frozen yogurt you want. You can also get cones but I think they're up front where the cashiers are. I got mostly non dairy yogurt while my friend got a little of everything. After that, you can get wild with toppings--I just got cherries and shredded coconut (I'm a little more conservative with toppings...lol). The yogurt is charged by weight and I think it was about $8.00 for both. The environment was nice, young people and adults alike enjoying yogurt. The kids running the store were playing good music from Pandora (the Aaliyah channel). I had a good time and it was a good ending to a not so good evening! I look forward to trying other yogurt combinations. Jessica B.*
